MEET JOHN
An Everyday Guy Looking Out for Everyday People
As a native born son of Greenville, MS, I am proud to call Greenville home. As a graduate of Greenville High School, my fondest memory is being a part of the last Big Eight Championship team. As a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University, I understand the importance of public education in the life of citizens in the Mississippi Delta.
My career as a public servant began as I enlisted in the United States Army and became a service-connected disabled veteran. As an employee of the City of Greenville, I discovered my calling as a youth mentor and a coach. I truly believe in uplifting and investing in people.
I was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives from the very district where I was born and reared. It has been my distinct pleasure to work with and on behalf of my neighbors and friends. I believe in the future of young people and never miss an opportunity to engage them in public service. I work everyday on issues that impact everyone such as: access to quality healthcare, quality education, safe and affordable housing, clean air and water, and a strong economy defined by fiscal responsibility at the state level.
I have served on the following committees: Chair- Executive Contingency Fund, Chair-Youth and Family Services and currently serve as Secretary-Insurance Committee, Appropriations, Banking and Finance, Gaming, Insurance, House Management, Public Utilities and Revenue and Expenditure General Bills Committees.
