October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The Amerian Cancer Society estimates that over 200,000 women and 500 men will lose their lives to breast cancer in 2019. These statistics can be drastically reduced by awareness and understanding of the symptoms associated with breast cancer. Getting regular mammograms and monthly checks of your breast and reporting any changes to your doctor is critical for long-term survival.

Education is Key to the Delta's Success
Mississippi House District 50 has five public school districts. The districts are Greenville Public School District, Hollandale Public School District, Leland Public School District, South Delta Public School District, and Western Line School District. Recently, the MS Department of Education released the accountability rankings for state public schools. Two districts increased their accountability ranking while three of the districts were unable to maintain their ranking from the previous year. The impact of our largest educational systems inability to sustain and increase district achievement is a blow to economic development in House District 50. Let's come together to build a strategy of success with school district personnel, parents, community members, and students to move forward this year.
"Education remains the key to both economic and political empowerment." Congresswoman Babara Jordan
